Right now in Michigan, a dangerous piece of legislation called the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) is making its way through the Michigan legislature. This bill could give individuals and businesses the ability to discriminate against gay and transgender people, in the name of religious freedom.
You may remember that a similar bill recently passed in the state of Indiana, resulting in a nationwide backlash, costing the state millions in investment and thousands of jobs.
Religious Freedom is one of our nation’s founding principles. But that freedom does not give anyone the right to cause harm to others.
It is imperative that we stop this bill and ensure that all people, no matter who they are or whom they love, are treated equitably and fairly. That’s why I just signed Freedom Michigan’s pledge, voicing my opposition to a “license to discriminate” in the Great Lakes State. Click here to take action too: http://FreedomMI.org/Pledge
